Philip James Hedgecock is a classically trained painter and sculptor specialising in portraits and figurative work.

“For me the human figure can express the endless depths of human emotion and narratives.
It is through the human form we primarily experience the world around us and much of what we communicate and express is not only done without words, and through our own physical expression, but can also be universal across time, continents and social dynamics.
I am looking to explore some of the innate themes of what it means to be human, the experience of being human in the world, and to that end for me the nude figure stripped of any modern day signifiers can be the purest expression of universal themes and I do my best to stay honest to that.”

Philip's training began in 2016 at the London Atelier Of Representational Art, before moving to Florence to attend the full-time Drawing & Sculpture Program at The Florence Academy Of Art. During this time he also studied marble carving at Studio Della Statua, as well as studying Anatomy & Ecorché.

He currently lives and works between Florence and London.
